We are strong favourites though, I think it would be silly to pretend otherwise.

Lads, where's all the supreme confidence we'll beat Offaly coming from? I get that we're favourites, but certainties? This is an Offaly team full of underage AI medals. If they were from Tipp or KK, they'd be marked down as 'up and coming.' They've drawn with Dublin and KK and beaten Wexford. Their only defeat was an 11 point trimming by Galway, in Pearse Stadium. Their three results since then have been impressive.

This will be their biggest day out yet. The large crowd will probably bring out the best in them, and if they can hang in, they'll fancy our lads as 'flaky' if the pressure is on coming down the straight. The only thing bad about Offaly this year was their league performance and they operated through most of that with a string of injuries that's comparable to the one we have now! Even when we met them in the Park, they were handy enough in the first half, and as far as I remember, they're nothing to play for having been relegated already.

So for anybody who's completely convinced that we cannot lose this, could you explain why?

There's no way Offaly will beat Cork on Sunday, but I guess it's shit the bed time again for some fellas.

This is a great thread, plenty of early team news and good analysis, but there's also a series of unwritten rules that must be observed

- any positivity about any league match is assumed to be a declaration that we are going to win the AI, and immediately shot down
- the league is 'only the league', its makes no difference if the same posters have been posting this for 20 years like its a unique point of view
- the munster championship is only about getting out of it, wanting to win it, or celebrating winning it are not allowed
- equally if we win a match any excitement needs to be quelled immediately as the job is not done yet
- Once out of the championship every opponent must be discussed equally, no statements that we will beat a team are tolerated, every team is brilliant in a way that most just can't see. Refer to Dublin last year, Offaly this year etc
- No matter who is picked to play, how we set up, or what the outcome, there was a better way we should have gone about it

My first Cork match. I hated Offaly for years after.

One of the few counties that have won both the football and hurling AIs. Fair play.

Is TOM deffo out ? Sounds like Fitzgibbon is just back training so maybe too soon also?

It's one of those games that Cork are damned if they wallop Offaly or damned if they dont. Get any kind of win and hope a few lads put their hand up - anything else not really worth worrying about.
