His findings vindicate Corks view on the referee. Of the 50/50s, missed decisions and incorrect decisions he counted 12-5 in Limericks favor.

Thats a huge factor in determining the outcome.

If it was 12-5 the other way around we would have won by 7 or 8 points!
Just 50/50 parity would have seen us win by 3 or 4 probably.
Which is the way the game was going a couple times until Owens decided to give everything to Limerick for two 10 minute spells.

So in total, 12 dubious calls for Limerick. Thats huge. And thats what we saw but good to have this data to back it up.

And thats before considering Malachy Clerkin is no fan of Cork.

Then u see absolute gobshites like Daithi O Regan get a platform.

Every serious podcast should look at Clerkins analysis.

It's shocking when refs decide games.

IMO Murphy cost us the AI in 2024.

Gordon made serious errors - mainly affecting Eoin Downey but didn't cost us the game.

Owens should be finished at this level

Tbf I don't think Limerick were the only team throwing flicks. These things just happen it's just unlucky. We have plenty time to get bodies back, 4 weeks to Galway, no offence to Offaly.

As I said, I get that thumbs, and fingers, can get broken. My point was that the more a team indulges in flicks the higher the likelihood of their opponents picking up such injuries. The fact that Limerick flick a lot at hands, arms, and indeed heads doesn't discount that some Cork players do too, but it's far more prevalent amongst Limerick players if the last few seasons are anything to go by.

And the dangerous frontal charges that Limerick indulge in have occurred with other teams as well, but again it's the propensity in the Limerick game that leads one to believe it, as well as the flicks, is encouraged as a tactic by Kiely et al. It happens far too often with them to just be a coincidence imho.

Pat Ryan Limerick had a good stat yesterday. In 4 finals, 2 Munster, 2 All irelands, Alan Connolly has only scored 3 points from play. Cork only won one of those finals, on penalties. Cork need a much bigger return from one of our marquee forwards.

Ben has clearly tried hard to get the most out of Connolly.

However, I think we won't get any more out of him. He has upped his work rate but he will rarely win a 50:50 ball.

Even though Walsh is probably better suited to HF Line I think he could displace Connolly in the corner.

Connolly can create goals - his effort in setting up Barrett in the RR game was fantastic.

He frustrates cause we know he is a serious talent

Both attacks malfunctioned.... both defences were excellent. As I said previously, yes Limerick got a rub of the green but Cork need to look at themselves...which I'm sure the team will.

Fairly sickening to read selected stats, from a sample size of four games, flagged by an ex Limerick player, being use here to run a wee pile on advocating for dropping a quality forward.

Connolly may not have had his best day in a Cork jersey on Sunday, but contrary to the narrative on here he worked his ass off, and he nailed frees in difficult conditions.

People very quickly forgetting that he was brilliant v Limerick in the RR game.
Scored 1-8.
1-1 from play.
Assisted the other goal scored.

I can only conclude that people's opinions on Connolly are influenced by the fact that he doesn't go around apologising for his mere existence.
