Cork Hurlers - Part 2

The only part of that tripe I'll pull you up on is that quip about the terraces... the goading and shithousing by fans started in the Pairc by Cork supporters in 2024 and spilled over to Croker that year. That's fact....Tipperary got it from ye in the league final , I was there as a neutral and saw old fellas abused in the stands... the soccer element we are witnessing has been introduced by this new wave of Cork supporters over the last few years. That's fact.
You should have seen the Cork supporters in the 70’s and 80’s!😂 If you think the current fellas on the terrace are bad….🤦‍♂️
We must be rightly in your heads up there.

I never thought Kilkenny were that dirty. The few odd fouls here and there for sure and definitelty played tough, hard hurling.
But this latest brand of hurling is just a systematic, continous breaking of all of the fundamental rules of hurling.

There is.
The tactics and the game in general is now incredibly negative and cynical. Limerick brought this. It brought you success, and thats great for you. But when assessing greats in sport, the 'how' of winning is as important as the winning itself.
And winning, by basically cheating the rules of the game, significantly tarnishes the legacy.
Hopefully this Review thing restores the game back to how its supposed to be played.
Unlike football. I dont actually think hurling needs a load of new rules. The rules themselves are fine. Its the implementation is the issue.
The rules say its illegal to throw the ball, run more than 4 steps, grab an opponents hurly and spare arm, choke tackle, shoulder or hurley to opponents head, etc.
Unfortunately these rules are rarely actually implemented properly anymore because they are being broken non-stop now in games. Hence referees are in an impossible position.
There really should be no way the free count should be in favor of limerick given how they play the game.
Yes let them bring these 'tactics' but penalise them accordingly.
Hence the frustration with the referee. Ya on one hand you can look and say the freecount was only 18-14 in Limericks favor. But on the otherhand, the freecount should pretty much always be double in favor of any opposition when playing Limerick, given how they play the game as their adopted 'style' of play.
Referees are under huge pressure from Limerick to let them away with this stuff, and i think actually in a lot of cases they are actually intimidated.
But hey, its working for Limerick.
Just dont expect us to respect them for it.
And now Ben is giving John Kiely a taste of his own medicine with regard trying to influence referees, ye dont like it one bit.
The Hurling Review committee is doomed. Did ya see who's on it? It will be a case of nothing to see here, tis grand.

This is from the official Limerick GAA account. They must be annoyed about the extent and numbers of the Cork supporters. Lack of class, sportsmanship and respect. We must be really in their heads. The wheel always turns. Hopefully we get to play them again.
Limerick would generally had fairly sound fans but there's a nasty element after creeping in the last few years. I was central North Stand on Sunday close to the Limerick section and their behaviour throughout was shocking, especially at the final whistle; two fingers up, goading the Cork fans. This wasn't just one or two lads either. This premiershit style taunting can fuck off.

Your fellow Cork man has tried to blame Limerick for the current state of affairs in tbe terraces.... along with stealing Shergar and carrying out 9-11. The big bad Limericks have ruined the game 😀

I'd suggest there's only 1 team in everyone's head and it ain't Cork

You are one tragic article, on a Cork message board trolling when yere good run ended 3 years ago.

Go away and soak your head.

The posts are getting longer and longer, nastier and nastier and posters are showing their true colours
The seething rage and frustration that Limerick, not one of Da Big Three, could win so much in the last 8 years while… We Are Cork, the golden wristed aristocrats and moral guardians of all things hurling, are in a drought older than most of your coked up, bottle throwing, booing supporters.
The whole country supports whoever Cork is playing because of a misplaced cockiness and arrogance and your disgraceful following .

So keep the rage posts coming and don’t forget to include stuff about history, JP, , travellers, education ( that one came from a semi- literate idiot who couldn’t even spell his username) and whatever insult you can think of.
It’s highly amusing and shows how much we have you rattled.

They have gone very bad in recent years.

The carry on up in the GG at the round robin game last year il never forget, some cork fans left the terrace early and got stuff thrown at them, I’m talking older people and kids on the receiving end of abuse.

Of course it’s a small % of Limerick fans at this crack and we have plenty of our idiots but this behaviour needs to be addressed asap as it’s gone very nasty.
