Cork Hurlers - Part 2

Totally agree.

At the final 4 stage you don't even need a performance!

Just get over the line.

Just get to the final. Then all bets are off and anything can happen.

But if you keep getting there.........
I think at some stage in a semi or final you're going to have to turn it on given the quality of the opponent but yes you're absolutely right.

Tipp peaked for half an hour last year and won one of their best ever All-Irelands. Bad and all as Cork were there was no indication in their previous games that they could hit quite the heights they did in that second half and fair play to them. It has been downplayed because of how spectacularly we imploded but they were genuinely superb.

That’s the whole point of this thread and board no?
To discuss opinions?
If I’m wrong let me know
It is, but I think sometimes it gets presented as if the opinions of people on here, or their unwillingness to discuss negatives somehow impacts the team.

This line from your post is what I was responding to

" i agree that these are better preparation but it's only better preparation if these problems are actually discussed yet I see very little being discussed."

The guy on the CorkHurlingPod is probably the best out there. He actually goes to the games and is very perceptive about things that are happening on and off the pitch that those other podcasters can't see on TV or aren't noticing if they're at the games.
I generally have liked his pods so far but he is too negative on our performances. We easily could have stuck more goals against Waterford and Limerick and been more comfortable and the hype train would be off and running again. Even against Tipp they got a crappy late goal to make the scoreboard more respectable. What I like most so far is our structure in that there is far less of the 2 on 2 inside our 40 this year. We are holding our shape and our tackling (especially out the field) has also improved with Cork players finally using the spare arm to put an opponents off (at least). If we keep our shape and aggression levels up it will take a fair team to out score us - we have the forwards to put big scores up.

Best analysis is from James Skehill and Paul Murphy. Objective and detailed analysis, and also entertaining!
Skehill and Murphy are no better than ok. Connors and Hickey on the GAA+ YouTube show are much better. The former KK goalkeeper (Michael Walsh) on the KCLR pod isn’t bad and generally fair I think. His analysis is not bad either once they move off KK. I laughed when they revealed their most downloaded pod was the recent Galway defeat, I was one of the first to download it! The Westmeath fella on that pod is a deluded KK fanatic and he’s not even from KK (he obviously also hates us).

But the negatives and problems and issues within the team.
Pat Ryan last year didn’t shy away from things aren’t good enough etc or that he’s happy with win but must improve on X Y or Z.
