Cork Hurlers - Part 2

I hope they do because they wont be winning any all ireland then
It will be interesting to see what happens.
I do think however that it is difficult for any manager to move away from players he has been with for years and have known great success with.

They do have some talented young players and certainly some will start... but how many ?
I think English, O Neill, O Connor and O Brien are likely.

What was the reaction?
Hoggie asked WOD what the Limerick goals would have been for the second half and WOD replied kind of awkwardly that " Im not telling you what the goals were, I'd say you know yourself what the goals were"

Now as I said it was a thing of nothing really just an awkward exchange played out on live TV.
It was far more odd then anything any Cork player said or done after the game on Sunday.

I though it was interesting. I'd love to be a psychologist to have an idea of what went on in his head in that moment. It seemed like Cantwell annoyed him by asking about the team's history. He wanted to emphasise the point that history had nothing to do with what they were at now. It seemed important to him to look at things that way, and to have everybody else look at them that way too. Perhaps he doesn't like 'the weight of history?' It almost seemed like that was still on his mind when he snapped at Hoggie. The mask kind of slipped a bit. In that camp it just seems extremely important to think about here and now only, and not to have the big bad media trying to burden them with history.

Connolly by contrast was very relaxed. Not in the least bit agitated. Happy to say what he thought and couldn't have cared less what the media thought about it. His mindset seemed that bit healthier to me. That said, it could be just a personality thing. There could be plenty of cool calm operators in Limerick, and guys wound up to 90 in Cork too. Equally, I could be talking bollox! I'm easily amused. If I were marking Donaghue in championship though, I'd be bringing the tape to the psychologist.

I don't think any management group or any player from any county in hurling or football takes any notice of what is said in the media.

It is all just hot air designed to keep the clicks up and generate some money if possible.

I have never listened to any podcast on GAA and have no intention of starting.
Thats highly debatable and I suspect untrue.

Players and mgmt are human, humans are affected by what others think and say about them. More and more IC players are u25, they are not mature, I suspect a high percentage are influenced by the media.

I highly doubt Clares Adam Hogan wasnt affected by Cusack calling out his diving last year or Cusack calling out " Has the fight gone out of Tipp" was it 2 years ago as recent examples.

Best guess for the team vs Tipp to open Munster. A fools errand surely but what the hell...

I think it's a bit of horses for courses. Thought hard about whether or not Millerick starts for NOL. It's a tough one. Crazy to leave ED out of the the halfback line but who do you drop? COB is next but he's 5th in the HB line. You could start ED and Joyce but then TOC misses out and I think he's played too well and offers too much of what they need. Harnedy is a great man to come in with the game on the line. Can't move anyone out of that HF line in my view. I think Dalton will start some games but against Tipp I think they'll want something fresh. Buckley to roam a good bit. Where am I wrong?
