Cork Hurlers - Part 2

The dishing out of the black card needs a tweak. Not on the melee but in generals. What’s wrong with giving the offender a black card, sending the player to the sideline on the 45. Let the penalty be taken, if a goal (not a point) is scored from the penalty, the offender returns immediately.
If the penalty is missed, the offender has ten mins in the bin. Simples.
Listen to Ben, stop copying soccer. Take their lead, yes but we should make the rules/punishments fit our game. Penalty shootouts will be in the firing line next no doubt.
Black card along with penalty is far too punitive and should be changed I agree.

Hate to hear the booing personally but it's definitely heightened by a Saturday night fixture. It's pantomime really though and the roar from the Tipp crowd when he scored only added to the atmosphere. Could have been seriously raucous if there was more at stake. Sheedy's comments on it were ridiculous.

I think changes in hurling might be considered in the future to speed things up a bit in general. Fast puc outs should always be allowed after a wide imo as well as putting a clock on frees/sidelines/puc outs possibly. Shelley was slow enough at times the last night. Ben has a point on the ball in play time and hurling all of a sudden is starting to feel a bit stop start to watch in comparison to football.

How in hell does such drivel get written and published?

"Still, Declan Dalton’s 18th-minute penalty was their only look at goal."

Did Mr Barry forget Daltons one on one chance that he batted wide?

Yes goal chances were at a premium

Still a journalist should get basics right

Last thing we need is a League final v Lk.
I think.
Yeah.
Limerick is the most likely opponent and Cork won't want to show their hand to Kiely & Cahill.

Barrett will probably only have the Offaly game in reg league. He and the squad players could do with a run out

In hindsight, I was wrong to suggest a dress rehearsel

Not much between the 5 sides so tactics could be decisive.

Daltons long range shooting could be important - any ideas on whether he should start ?

No 14.

The big positive anyway from reading the last few pages is that Cork have plenty of options on all lines of the pitch. Really good panel which is brilliant.
The big task now for the management is to get that balance correct both in terms of the starting 15 plus who comes on. And if a game is going in a certain direction to be able to adapt plans accordingly.
