Cork Hurlers - Part 2

I see a lot of people here picking their teams for championship. What amazes me is nobody has Seamus Harnedy starting, in my opinion he must start.
Granted he might not be able for a full 70 mins.
But I don't think he's a man to finish off a game. That's for speedy lads like Kingston, Robbie O'Flynn, when the game has opened up.
Harnedy is a man to keep you in the game to make sure you're in a good position with 20 mins to go.
Cork struggled early in the league game v Galway, it was Harnedy who did stuff to ensure Cork didn't let the game slip away. I think it would be madness not to use him from the start of a championship game.
Thats very true but hes going to have to be managed carefully to get the best out of him

Will he be able for full championship games against Tipperary and Limerick in 7 days? I doubt it

O'Leary's done nothing wrong since being brought in, we have two competitive games left so no point trying someone new there.
Eoin Downey is better off on the wing and played well there Saturday. So its either O'Leary or Cahalane imo.
Not a bad option but I'd like Cahalane to be the one off the bench rather than O'Leary.
Play Joyce midfield or corner back.
I'd go with this atm
PC
NOL DOL SOD
ED RD MC
TOM CJ
DF SB DH
AC DD BH

WB TOC ROF SH ROF GM COB DC ET all options off the bench then.
I like this team. Dalton has had days where he was man of match. A roving role might suit him, and also he’d take long range frees. The bench options are good

It was tough leaving him out of my 15 especially after he showed he still has it last week, but as I said, a guaranteed impact sub is sometimes more effective than starting.
Kill teams with the pace of Barrett, Fitzy and Dudsy and bring shamey on to steady the ship and put away any hope of a comeback.

Hundred per cent. Hardedy should be nailed on to start if fit. But would the same about Duds, Barrett and Fitz obviously. Any of the latter three could play the roving corner forward role I suppose. I could see the positions in the forwards being a lot more fluid this year and looked a bit that way Saturday night.
Shamie would be my first name on the team sheet for the last decade.

Granted he'll be 36 by final day.

But DF, SB & Duds must start.

A nice problem for Ben.

Add Hayes and Connolly and how can u not start all 6 ?

Deccie is, by far, our best long range free taker. With goals hard to come by, we simply can't pass up gimmes in Munster.

You can make a solid argument for 7 lads.

I’d start harnedy everyday always stood up in big matches when others were found wanting

😂. They reckon there were 70,000 packed into Gaelic grounds that day.. 63 K paid and the gates were knocked down. Nobody was sent off, there was an investigation afterwards, but everyone swore that Ring didn’t hit Moloughney. Bill Herlihy gave a good account of the episode!
And played the anthem out on the road and bottles of water out of taps were sold as well decades before ballygowan came a long

I was at the best of them all, although we lost by 2 points, in 1960. That game ensured that the ‘61 final was going to be hell for leather and worse. It was too intense and almost uncontrollable. And, another loss.
