Difference was in 1984 Cork had multiple All Ireland winners in the team including several lads who’d done the 3 in a row.

The only lads we have with medals now are on the line.

Tim, Darragh etc are 29 next year. It’s really now or never for them.

I did have a bit of a chuckle when I saw that. You'd swear they were after coming back from the Vietnam War....

I see your point R&B but Cork in 1984 after 82/83 had some players who had 2-3 AI medals won at that stage JBM, Seanie OL, John Crowley, Tim Crowley, Tom Cashman and Der McCurtain off the top of my head. There may have been others but I'm not sure atm.

I actually think the second half collapse was so bad that it could be used to our advantage going forward to negate any possible mental baggage.

Like no matter what happens now next year the whole country will be waiting for Cork to collapse in games. Be that in a league final, a Munster championship game, an All Ireland final. Fans expectations will be tempered as such. Up by 6 or 8 or 10 points with 10 or 15 minutes to go then it still doesn't matter because everyone thinks we are going to collapse. Theirs a kind of weird freedom in that attitude that should allow everyone play with a chip on their shoulder and play kind of pressure free to an extent.
Like they will never get abuse or ridicule again to the extent of some of the moronic crap that was said about them after the All Ireland final.

true and i have always said we have no real leaders, its time for the younger generation who have underage medals to drive the team foward

those two have another 5 years in them. its not now or never but the next championship is the only one that matters

true but we lost the 2 previous finals and came back and won in 84, Galway had little or no all ireland winners when they lost in 85 & 86 and won in 87 & 88, Kilkenny the same in 98 & 99

In 1987 Tipp were probably still celebrating the MF win over Cork as it had been so long coming.
Btw, did I omit anyone from the players I previously listed?
