Agree with alot of that Corkonian1, in particular the AC, GM and COB points.

While JOC is a damn fine player, I think Cork would be much better served developing Ben Cunningham, Alan Walsh ( if an option) over JOC going forward.

Note - Honestly I would rate ROF( injuries et al) ahead of JOC at IC.

I'd have ROF challenging for a bench spot with JOC and LM not making the bench.

I like JOC a lot but I don’t think he’s strong enough for IC.

60 makes 3 squads of 20. Call them Christy, JBM and Brian C put RC in charge of 1 team , Terence in charge of next and Biganne in charge of the 3rd / with BOC to oversee. Play 5 round (weeks ) competition behind closed doors between now and Jan 1 with top 2 contesting the Canon O B. See how fellas perform in match circumstances but use selectors to create a genuine sense of competition between the players. There is no war like civil war.....

I was told of 3 players from last years 36 who have been told already they're not involved next year, so hard to believe this story about 60 players training.

The issue regarding Jack O'Connor is that there aren't many real corner-forwards available with Hoggy gone if Power isn't fully right so the new management may be leaning towards including the likes of Jack and Robbie.

I get your point but we dont always have to play 3 in the FF line.

If we're playing teams like Tipp who take short puck outs, yeah let play a 3 man ff line, play Brian Roche corner forward were his tackling is excellent leading to goals for us and a failed tactic for them.

If playing more direct teams, play Dalton FF.

Otherwise as others have said, drop a corner forward back, give our defence a break, not every game has to be a shoot out.

You can press with a two man full forward line. Tipp did it against us, splitting the three and trying to encourage us to give the ball to SOD as he was seen as the weakest distributor presumably. They did it quite well I thought.

Conversely Cork had three in the FF line pressing up on Tipp but really doing nothing more than waving at them or giving stupid fouls.

Even if we went with the two, Dalton and Hayes as I favour, you could make an argument that different players do the press?

Maybe those two go stand in between the full back and centre back, concede the space at corner back and we’ve the wing forwards do the press safe in the knowledge that there’s extra bodies covering behind them?

Tbh I think that’s what Tipp were doing.

A lot of the time conditions aren’t great and a corner back given space is just hit and hope in on top of well marked forwards. Then we blame the lads inside for not winning it etc.

JOC could be an option if you can find space for him. One of those he might be useful in. He’s got pace and doggedness. I don’t think a traditional half forward slot would suit, he’s too light, they’ll just rugby tackle him even if he gets past a corner back, but the sort of thing I’m talking about, maybe he’s an option.

I just think guys like Roche have to come into it and there are lads playing further back the field that need replacing with actual defenders that I think will come into the mix up there as well. Coleman, O’Mahony, Fitzgibbon I’d see further forward than they are now.

I don’t think we should be discounting anyone right now. Even what I’m talking about, you need a bomb squad of forwards coming on because they’ll be asked to do more running.
