Cork Gigs 2026

Ancient Hostility:

Ancient Hostility perform close harmony folk singing to tell vivid, poetic stories of resistance, vulnerability and sadness. Interspersed with minimalist instrumental soundscapes and drawing on the irreverence of the 60s folk revival, these are songs rooted firmly in the present.

Their debut album Sing As Loud As You Can is all lush three part harmonies; Simon Barr and Ash Ludd are joined by Dandy for the recording process, together their voices explore new ways to keep our radical histories alive, spanning the stories of the levellers and the diggers to very recent accounts of direct action, proving that folk music is very much a living tradition. Emotional tellings of relationships ending or the death of friends are told in their signature way of finding new routes through difficult terrain, constantly breaking free of the constraints of conservatism. The unflinching honesty of their lyrics has seen them captivate rooms full of anarcho punks as well as traditional folk clubs across the UK and mainland Europe; this is music for ordinary people who recognise the growing darkness but refuse to give up on the remaining light.

“debut album Sing As Loud As You Can is a direct assault of group singing in the vein of Swan Arcade or The Young Tradition, linked together by scratchy drones of violin and concertina.” – The Quietus

I can't go, but if anyone is free I highly highly recommend checking out the Scratch

Mad craic for a night out!

The Savoy. My early review on the venue upon my first visit since reopening. You simply cannot have so few people serving pints in a sold out venue. Currently queuing. 4 deep. 2 bars. The middle bar is now gone. I'll get one round and done. Terrible. Bar staff stressed to their gills in fairness.

Edit: only Beamish stout in the bottom bar. On a positive note, Dug as support are outstanding. The air conditioning is good!

Jeez the Scratch are unreal. Brilliant gig despite the venue.

Really poor bar service organistion when a sold out show, needs reviewing.

Now have tickets for Just Mustard and Bell X1 in coming months. Won't be too excited after tonight but the venue itself is good and there's potential there.

my first visit since reopening also.. fine venue, really looking forward to seeing gigs there. yeah you were spot on bout the bar. i had a couple before going in so didn’t bother with bar. as for the gig, i went along with my mate who bought the tickets, he wanted some one to go with him as he dont attend gigs on his own for some reason. i love going on my own, anyway my view on the scratch is as far as i could hear they were trad/metal. pretty appalling but they were lively. the crowd were well into it. as for me i was trying to think of a gig i enjoyed less over the last 50 years? three guitarists on stage were truly woeful and as for the the guy lashing the drum in a monotonous beat for the night my god he was a pity.. he did manage to get the crowd chanting something about Palestine and made threats to Michael martin which completely unnecessary.
