Cork gigs 2025

Sleeper playing c.a. in the autumn

loved indie princess Louise Wener back in the day
As I said to a friend of mine the other day when I saw this announced - that's the office Christmas party organised by indie head Linda in HR sorted.

Credentials: Stills wear Converse - once a year, has heard of Arctic Monkeys and previously owned albums by Blur, Elastica and Menswear.

Last year this spot was filled by Cast, next year it will be Gene (who, despite recent news stories are still going ahead with their tour).

Sleeper's Irish dates are rescheduled from November to April 2026. "Illness" is cited but I think that this is down to poor sales. The venue in Dublin was already downgraded from The Academy to Opium.

Either way - that's the indie office Christmas party scuppered.

I liked them back in the day, but I am not sure I liked them enough to go and see them now. If they were part of a festival I would definitely check them out but on their own, i'm kinda on the fence.

Though "what do I do now" is one of my favourite 90s songs.

Sleeper really passed me by - bar "What Do I Do Now?", "Inbetweener" and the cover of "Atomic" - I can't think of another song of theirs that I know. But I'm sure that I danced to those in an indie club at some point.

That being said, I wouldn't go to see them either.

Sleeper and Echobelly felt like a watered-down version of Elastica who definitely had some bonafide bangers.
