Cork gigs 2025

Just spotted that Ash are playing Cyprus Avenue in December.

Can confidently say that I haven't heard a single note of music that Ash released after the "Free All Angels" record but I still have a soft spot for that album and the debut record "1977" (which turns 30 next year - fucking hell).

Haven't seen them live in over 20 years (fucking hell - again) so I might go for a look.

still listen to '1977' every now and then, great album

I've seen them lots over the last 20 years, and they always deliver.

1977 is still a banger.

Do Plugd ever have tickets on the door for sold-out gigs? I was sure I’d booked for Laura Duff tomorrow but mustn't have completed the checkout properly.

Was there last night, i absolutely loved Cola, in particular, Junk Drawer were also good, however i thought Mhaol were shockingly bad
Mhaol were pretty bad alright. I'm 50/50 with how they sound on record. I think a lot of their music sounds good. The vocals and lyrics not so much. But live, it all sounds bad. Disjointed, not even remotely tight and off key. I wonder did the guitarist play with his back to the audience for the entire gig because he was embarrassed?

Junk Drawer are ok. Second time seeing them. The songs are nothing special TBH. I saw the main singer/guitarists other band, Unbelievable Lake, a few weeks ago, and they were class altogether. Stoner/drone type of thing.

Unfortunately, I couldn't hang around for Cola.

I went on Sunday - managed about 4 songs from Junk Drawer before they proceed to go up their own arses so I slipped out and sat in the beer garden.

To be fair to Junk Drawer - they sounded like they pulled it back a bit towards the end but I had seen them before and they were better on that occasion.

I didn't bother my hole going in to see M(h)aol. I think they are terrible - and it sounds like I'm still right. :lol!: Sat in the beer garden talking shite for an hour instead.

Cola were absolutely class. Tim Darcy's guitar needed more volume for sure and I'm glad that he got his own way even after the sound engineer said it was fine (I don't think that the engineer fully understood what he had been asked).

Cola's songs, stage presence and how tight their playing is showed you the gulf in class between them and the support bands. With Ought, Tim Darcy, wrote some of the last decade's best songs - no sign of him fading with this band.

I could have done with a longer set from Cola.
