Thread for non Marquee/Musgrave Park A few nice ones coming up: Father John Misty - City Hall -August King Cresote - Cyprus Avenue- May
went to madness and big country in the city hall late 80s. was a great venue tbhCity Hall - great to have it back in the mix. I just wonder about the sound there, at a couple of the gigs I have seen there -- sound was fine but not perfect, compared to say Cyprus Avenue which is fantastic for sound I think.
always found city hall weird, when it's full its grand but even when it was 3/4's full it seemed and felt almost empty, dunno why...City Hall - great to have it back in the mix. the ladies love a well sprung floorCity Hall is legendary also, for its “sprung” floor. Had no sound issues at last few i was at there, Frames, Bell X1
yeah, brixton academy is a great venueSome London friends rave about Brixton Academy, another old venue. it also has the sprung floor, but has a gradual floor decent up to the stage, so even if you're at the very back, you are higher than those up the front, i have yet to get in there myself.
i’d highly recommend a read of Simon Parkes book on the venue
“Live at the Brixton Academy - A Riotous Life In The Music Business”,
all about how he bought it for £1 in the 80’s, the gang issues, police, the acts, the gigs, a fantastic read
