Cork Footballers

Disappointing but won’t be reading too much into a loss against that Louth team in Ardee in these conditions, being down a man for the second half.

Derry is a bit of a nothing match now, just slight championship prep really if anything.

I thought both the penalty and the sending off, on first viewing, looked harsh enough but Cork's biggest problem is that they didn't score enough when they had possession. Cork had a lot of possession in the first half but they spend most of the time handpassing the ball sideways and backwards - no penetration and not enough scores. Mickey Harte had his defenders well drilled to push Cork attackers outside the scoring D and it worked a treat for them as Cork struggled for scores Then in the second half when Cork had less possession they were in trouble. The game suited bigger physical players, like Deane, Magure and Sherlock who played well. Smaller players like Corbett and Jones struggled I thought.

if we lose to Derry and Meath bt Kildare we finish 5th that might not be good enough to quailify for the Sam Maguire ..we then have to get to the Munster final to make the top 16 and we have to play Clare in Ennis..nothing easy there.
