Cork Footballers

Announced tonight Cork County board meeting that Kevin Murray will not be involved with Cork football next season. Barry O Mahony called this 3 weeks ago, good journalism

I think it's a big loss for the footballers.
People here nearly lots the plot when Barry O Mahony announced it (some people being those from West Cork cause the Southern Star didn't have the exclusive not you WCG as you complimented BOM).
The issue is the leak on the county board or within management.
Whether people like it or not it's good journalism.

The build up play was slow and one dimensional relying on 1 Shooter. Cork need a Mark McHugh type as Coach.

If as expected this is Martin OBriens last year with Clon (hopefully not) then the CCB should move heaven and earth to get him in.

There will be other suitors as I know for a fact he has turned down inter county coaching jobs in favour of staying with Clon.

He is by a distance the best young coach in Cork, and one of the best in country. Probably not the nodding dog yes man type Cleary wants so we’ll probably end up with a buddy/relative of his or a junior B coach from Ovens.

Question for those in the know..Will Neil Lordan be around for the ‘27 season..any new or newish players from the club championships that stand out?

MOTM for Clon against the Haven was Chris Kenneally. Dan Peet pocketed Brian Hurley the same day.
Both guys Sigerson starters, both former Cork U20s, both regular starters for years for one of the strongest club teams in Munster.

In any other county players with that track record would be given a chance and involved in training squads at the very least. Not so in Cork for some reason......
