Outside Sherlock, the forwards need to up their scoring rates. Chris Og seems to lack that bit of poise. If he got himself into sync and Corbett kept up his performances from the bench (again, with a little more ruthlessness in taking scores), we'd be well able for any team.

Lads, Chris Og had got himself into a position to receive a simple pass for an open goal near the end of the match to put the game to bed, only that 0 Driscoll didn't spot it. If he'd received that pass then many who were not there would have being saying he had a great game. I thought he had a very good game overall. In most aspects of a game, there's more in every single player on the team, Chris included.

Omagh was special. 5 wins out of 6 going into it and a lot riding on Omagh for progression and a platform in Div1 next year etc... Ballybofey was unreal.

For what it's worth - the bookies (and pundits) see 5 sides as contenders for Sam - Kerry, Donegal, Galway, Armagh & Tyrone.

Westmeath are big outsiders - and the other 6 are bunched at odds of 18/1 to 25/1.

At least one of the big 5 will exit next week end.

We are going very much under the radar IMO - our games v Meath or Donegal were not televised and we were pretty much written off after a poor 2nd half in Killarney.

It seems that we aren't getting much credit for a great comeback against Meath (Semi finalist last season) with 14 men and an even more impressive come back away to Donegal (last year finalist and favourite then)

John Cleary will love this.

I think we have a very good defence and MF with a great work ethic from everyone - Sherlock, Cronin, Chris Og and Hurley work really hard defending. Sherlock looks to be one of the forwards of this season

Another very important string to our bow is our ability to score 2 pointers.

Cork Footballers have shipped a lot of criticism, over the years, but I think we have adapted very well to the new rules.

With favourable draws - we could make the final. I think it's important that we are unlikely (please correct if I'm wrong) to meet Kerry or Donegal b4 the final.

I'd accept that we are big outsiders at this stage but I think we are probably a better side than the bookies and pundits think.

I'd have expected a comment like Cork could be dark horses - they are well organised, hard working and good at scoring 2 pointers - no one will want to face them. But not a dicky bird

Say nothing. It doesn't matter what the national media do or don't say about Cork football. We have been written off all year. We were the only team in the top two divisions that weren't shown on tv, apart from the final where it was unavoidable.

That’s the thing with your good inside forwards - even when they’re not on the scoreboard they’re tying in defenders & making space for the two point hitters outside ( Jimmy McG referenced this in his presser)

Hit a goal & maybe a point then on top & it looks completely different … we do need more scores & he’s well able ( was out around the arc a lot against Meath )

Agreed. It doesn't matter. Our team/panel is a unit, and we have a match in 11 or 12 days time.

One thing to mention about Chris OG. He had Roarty for company for the afternoon.
Roarty is arguably the best defender in the game.
That meant a tough day at the office for Chris Og and also freed up Sherlock from his clutches.

I listened to the cork football pod. Admittedly I didn’t travel up, I wasn’t one of the die hards but do follow the cork footballers so was good to hear.
He was full of praise to Chris og, he said he was constantly making decoy runs inside to keep the backs on their toes and whenever Donegal seem to have a break on Chris og was disrupting there momentum around the 45/65.
Roarty is top class though infairness to him, has a long career ahead of him and definitely some more all stars. Was like glue to Paudi Clifford in R1.

I was in ballybofey and from what I saw jones withdraws out to make room for corner forwards or a ball carrier coming down the central channel which is very unselfish play . On flip side i thought he was poor in Killarney and average v Meath but i would keep him there as his running can pull a defense. I think Paul Walsh Sherlock Sheedy are certs . There is a toss up between mc Donnell Buckley and Cahalane . I suspect management will go with mc Donnell and other too to come on . I think Cronin is in a big of trouble myself . He a poor league and was poor the last day . What I see with him if the flow of game is going well he goes well but has no impact if team are trailing or trying to get into game .
