He is a fuckin Gas man 🤣🤣🤣

Also he's spot on about Colm O'Callaghan's league campaign.
Yep indeed he's spot on. i suggested prior to league final that we should be resting lads and also giving fellas game time. Promotion was achieved ... what was coming next - championship- was more important

Spot on is rite ! Question 2 ye all sherlock s sideline kick where he got a point, not sure if I'm rite or wrong but did monaghan not get 2 points for Same shot 🤔

Thank you for clarification 👌👌

Both were absolutely outstanding kicks. And Stephen had a difficult varying wind to judge. In both cases it looks like that the ball had "broken-the-line" before it was kicked, i.e. all of the ball was not outside the line when it was kicked. But the rule is massively unspecific in that regard as far as I read it (is there more specific ref guidance I wonder), and I am glad both were allowed 'cos the closeness of the wire to the sideline means that a kicker can't otherwise get enough momentum behind the kick.

On our breach vs their breach — surely a breach is a breach? How can the ref know intent?

Is it that the Kerry fella just stuck a toe over the half way line?

The Rule (as of 2026):
  • Attack: A team must keep at least three outfield players in the opponents' half of the field at all times.
  • Defense: A team must keep at least four players in their own defensive half (which can include the goalkeeper).
  • Application: This applies even if a team is reduced in numbers (e.g., due to a red or black card). [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
What Constitutes a Breach?
A breach occurs when a player crosses the halfway line while carrying, receiving, or attempting to intercept the ball, causing their team to fall below the required number in either half. [1, 2, 3]
  • Penalty: A free kick is awarded to the opposing team on the halfway line, or where the player crossed.
  • Intentional Breach: If a team deliberately fails to keep three players in the opposition's half, a free kick is awarded on the 20-metre line.
  • Two-Point Option: For intentional breaches, the free kick can be brought outside the 40m arc for a potential two-point attempt. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Exceptions to the Rule:
There is no breach if a player: [1, 2, 3]
  • Causes the infraction unintentionally.
  • Is within 4 meters of the halfway line.
  • Is not interfering with play or an opponent.
  • Is not gaining a tactical advantage

Even FitzMaurice said SS deserved two points for that - they should change the rule to all sidelines being worth two

Thinking of unintended consequences however & It would put more pressure on all kick outs as loads of keepers (& Patrick Doyle) fancy picking out a lad right on the sideline & it often goes out

Imagine then it getting returned back for two! But what a skill

Very good analysis but it will be like water off a duck's back when it's Cleary and Walsh in charge. The decision to play with the wind in the first half was daft.
