Cork Footballers

He is in the minority…
The official stats
There is huge apathy towards hurling outside the core areas shown in this map. Outside the small shaded areas, 50% of people never even watch hurling and of the remaining they watch a bit of Munster hurling and the AI final on TV. Thats it..
According to the official figures Hurling is not even in the top 10 of sports playing numbers playing in Ireland- 11th I think
There is 20 odd counties where hurling is mostly a non entity
I understand this cold reality will drive done in here nuts….View attachment 50181
It's so sad to see.

Ray keane interduced kick passing this year very well with the u20s most of there drills were all kicking I believe which is brilliant, but look now half of them lads are gone onto u23 development squad under wat coaching I believe that clown Ray o Mahony is involved so now them lads be back to shite show . Instead Ray keane should be moving up with them keeping that skill going .But no it's a total fuck up .
Ray Keane got a 2 year term with the 20s

It’s absolutely terrible.
Such an incredible game. Dying a slow death.
Take the pockets, half of Cork, east limerick, eat Clare north Tipp, south east Galway, south Offaly and KK out of it and it’s gone
So the same pockets it's been played for over 100 years. Yeah if you took them out there wouldn't be anyone playing it...

I disagree, Lost it in the first half imo.
Far too ponderous with the ball playing with an 8 point wind. I was smack bang on the centre field line and the crowd near me were going nuts in the 1st half even when we were up 5/6 points at the slow cross field play.
Kerry went in at HT just a few points down with the greatest kicker in history in absolutely top form.. it was game over..

A word on Clifford, he is as good a player as has ever graced a field. I had him on par with O Connell, Jacko, Matt Connor and Gooch but I think he has now surpassed them all as the greatest of all time.
At times he was simply breathtaking last Sunday, with even the Cork support just marveling in what he was doing at times. I had family including 2 teenage grandkids with me and I’m glad we got to see that display together. When im long gone and forgotten maybe in 50 years time they’ll tell their own grandkids about the day I brought them down to Killarney and saw Clifford.
Unfortunately, our own display destroyed what could and possibly should have been the start of a Cork football revolution- 25,000 Cork supporters felt it and went down to see it coming.
Jesus its pathetic cork fans going to a match to watch clifford loads there on sunday couldn't care less about cork only too see clifford pretty embarrassing

Scores are two a penny in modern hurling. A fella gets the ball in space on his own 65 and it's a straight pot through over the bar. It's boring, a bit like basketball. I'll watch a Cork match, mainly out of tribal interest, but not much more.
Watching 20, 30 passes backwards and forwards around the arc is far more enjoyable I must admit, at least the fella taking a shot in hurling from the 65 has the stones to take on an actual shot.

I couldn't disagree more!

All the points you make are more accurately applied to football imo.

Both are far superior to soccer though...

That wouldn't be the case. They'd appreciate Clifford in the same way as the Cork hurling contingent would admire and like to see a Joe Canning in action. You can be sure a larger portion of Cork football fans at matches are genuine than that of the hurling followers, where there are a lot of daytrippers to be found.

And Hurling agrees with you Ogre.
It’s agreed it’s especially not a good enjoyable game to watch for the neutral now.
Hence, the hurling review committee…
The weight of the sliotar, back pass to goalie, the hand pass, reintroduce the contest, make possession hurling less successful etc
