Cork Footballers

Lads if we could structure our defence it would be a starting point.Man on Man is gone except in certain situations like having to follow Paudie clifford. The space into David Clifford was a joke how they even taut this work is behond me.I mean after 2 years of new rules we still havent a clue about kick outs or how to win the breaking ball surly this has to be sorted out.Subs we needs to keep certain players to subz role ie Deane and I think Sherlock should get this role also he not able 4 70 min against the best teams hasnt the pace or power for it.
Swarm tackle we dont do it, looking up while on the ball dont do it and good quick kick passing we dont do it and we never rotate our forwards a big man full forward every now and again durning the game would keep the oppostion guessing. It just same old same old the whole time.
If Sherlock doesn't start it could be costly as we found out last year when we got a free versus Dublin in the 1/4 final and we also had a last minute free v Down in the league .Both frees missed and both games lost because we hadn't a top class free taker on the pitch. But I do get your point on Deane & Sherlock are more effective coming on

Ian maguire goes 70 mins a game without kicking the ball. For a guy who gets on so much possession 35/40m from goal, opposition know every possession will be recycled.

In my experience, your view is by far the most prevailing view amongst GAA people, especially in County Cork but also generally.

I completely disagree with it. But you are in a lot of good company, and perspectives have consequences.
He is in the minority…
The official stats
There is huge apathy towards hurling outside the core areas shown in this map. Outside the small shaded areas, 50% of people never even watch hurling and of the remaining they watch a bit of Munster hurling and the AI final on TV. Thats it..
According to the official figures Hurling is not even in the top 10 of sports playing numbers playing in Ireland- 11th I think
There is 20 odd counties where hurling is mostly a non entity
I understand this cold reality will drive some in here nuts….IMG_6932.jpeg

Watched back the 1st half there and cork played some brilliant stuff quick footpasses into the forwards movement and great scores. Kerry crowed the defence 2nd half and things fell apart from there
I disagree, Lost it in the first half imo.
Far too ponderous with the ball playing with an 8 point wind. I was smack bang on the centre field line and the crowd near me were going nuts in the 1st half even when we were up 5/6 points at the slow cross field play.
Kerry went in at HT just a few points down with the greatest kicker in history in absolutely top form.. it was game over..

A word on Clifford, he is as good a player as has ever graced a field. I had him on par with O Connell, Jacko, Matt Connor and Gooch but I think he has now surpassed them all as the greatest of all time.
At times he was simply breathtaking last Sunday, with even the Cork support just marveling in what he was doing at times. I had family including 2 teenage grandkids with me and I’m glad we got to see that display together. When im long gone and forgotten maybe in 50 years time they’ll tell their own grandkids about the day I brought them down to Killarney and saw Clifford.
Unfortunately, our own display destroyed what could and possibly should have been the start of a Cork football revolution- 25,000 Cork supporters felt it and went down to see it coming.
