Cork Footballers

The 7 men missing are huge losses . A lot of average footballers on the bench
No 6 is turning into a huge issue for us as is no 10.We need 2 new players from somewhere. You could maybe move Brian O Driscoll to 10.Who for 6 tho either Tommy Walsh or Dan O Mahony.Who for the wings then?

People forget that in 2010 they beat what would go on to become a generational Dublin team. Cork lost in 2009 because Kerry choked our forwards by playing as defensively as they’ve ever played in an All Ireland. That was a generational Kerry team too.
Sad to say but Down took out Kerry in the simi . 09 Kennelly took out Nicholas Murphy and the Sligo ref left Kerry do what they always do. Cork had a Golden crop of Forwards, but our Manager never let them loose.

12 is also an issue yesterday not for the first day getting caught for over carrying and very poor overhead. We were completely bulleyed middle 8 bar Luke Fahay. Colm was allstar material first half but Rogers and Glass blagarded him and sadly that was him sorted. Young Sheedy played well for 10min but swallowed up after that. We are very soft nobody to there to mix it , men against boys

It was the kickouts that were the issue yesterday not the midfielders. I was at the game. We contested very well in midfield and our two lads were 2 out of about 4 lads that actually played quiet well. It was kickouts being terrible and going astray that cost us in that area

THey were going astray because we didnt have the players to win them.
No matter where it went we would'nt win them. They are sadly a vastly surperior team to us in all aspects of the game.We got showed up for what we are a middle tier team.

Ok so it obvious you didn’t watch the game live but that same Derry team were beaten by Meath only a few weeks ago. Cork went up there leggy, long journey, down a lot of men, strong wind, home crowd and it was just one of those games nothing went their way and everything went Derry’s way. It’s really not as deep or negative as you may think, it’s a funny old league and they’ve improved leaps and bounds this year compared to last year. No one is saying they’re their the best team in the country but that’s just very negative talk. 5 wins in their last 6 matches and promotion still their hands. I wouldn’t be so quick to cut the back off them just yet, don’t be so reactionary

I don’t know Jukka but they have enough cameras and screens in front of analysts that you would think they knew this? But the same management reverted to a situation with. Kickouts that was the subject of podcasts discussions last year, a kickout strategy cannot simply rely on one keeper being in position likes corks seems to, otherwise it’s not a strategy, this is year 5 of this group and here we are getting eaten without salt on kickouts with a keeper who won’t go short …..
He didnt like going short when there was no arc and no restriction around minimum distance.

Not to mind going short when it is now a lot more dangerous.

The one big way to get short kickouts away is having a goalkeeper who can kick with both feet.

It shouldn't be too much to ask when you're being monstered at midfield for management/coaching to have a couple of safety net restarts to get hands on ball.

Full press or not.
