I don’t know Jukka but they have enough cameras and screens in front of analysts that you would think they knew this? But the same management reverted to a situation with. Kickouts that was the subject of podcasts discussions last year, a kickout strategy cannot simply rely on one keeper being in position likes corks seems to, otherwise it’s not a strategy, this is year 5 of this group and here we are getting eaten without salt on kickouts with a keeper who won’t go short …..I suppose it’s interesting the extent of the pre planning and analysis that went into a league meeting.
The Derry manager had been to see Cork twice. They knew what to expect from either of our goalkeepers. Had our lads been to see them at any stage?
Do we have anybody critically analysing our own kick out to that extent that Derry did, to find the weaknesses, to come up with plans to stem the tide if teams do pick it off?
This is the type of effort and intent on and off the pitch that turned a game we may well have lost anyway into a record beating.
Who’s leaking out of the Derry campThis is paywalled, but very good piece from Declan Bogue on how the Derry management spent 8 days planning how to decimate our kick out strategy.
Pretty clear they saw weaknesses in Martin that weren’t there with Doyle and knew exactly how they were going to challenge it.
Kickouts key as dominant Derry inflict major damage on Cork's promotion bid

Counihan put steel in themNo doubt that's a huge factor, but remember too that all of those lads were on board for serious beatings pre 2008 and in DOC cases post 2013.
In Counihans six seasons I can't recall cork ever lost a game by more than 6 or 7 points. There was a league game against Cavan where they lost by that and another towards the end against the Dubs. That time was bookended by absolute hammerings from Kerry in 2007 AI final under Billy and 2014 Munster final under Cuthbert.
The 7 men missing are huge losses . A lot of average footballers on the benchreally bad result yesterday, wasn't expecting for cork to win it maybe 5 point lost with the players out. but 20 points is nothing short of wreck less. martin needs to be dropped kick out are well below standard. surely the lad from the barrs is better if doyle is still out. big trouble at 6 if keeps playing rm. walsh struggling in the middle have very little dept in this area. maybe paul walsh could be tried ???. Conor C did he even touch the ball yesterday. its hard one to take might only loose one league match and not go up because of yesterday result.
Counihan never got the credit he deserved. 3 Munster Championships, 3 Division 1 League wins and an All Ireland in 6 seasons. That’s fair going. If they had beat Donegal in 2012 they’d have got another All Ireland too.No doubt that's a huge factor, but remember too that all of those lads were on board for serious beatings pre 2008 and in DOC cases post 2013.

People forget that in 2010 they beat what would go on to become a generational Dublin team. Cork lost in 2009 because Kerry choked our forwards by playing as defensively as they’ve ever played in an All Ireland. That was a generational Kerry team too.
What about 2009 when he didn't make changes? Fell over the line in 2010 against an inexperienced Down. He underachieved with a great group of players.
That Down team were no average side either. Marty Clarke, Benny Coulter, Ambrose Rogers, Kevin McKernan and Paul McComiskey were all top footballersPeople forget that in 2010 they beat what would go on to become a generational Dublin team.
