Please educate me about Murphy someone. I just don’t see it. A mighty Donegal player for sure but in the conversation for All Time Top 10s etc seems absolute nonsense to me..Murphy - unquestionably a super player over the last 15 years - but he's going down the dirty Darragh route now as an auld fella.
I dont have a reputation as a lad that would leave my elbow out - so clearly ref, that must have been unintentional...
He’s 26 and was outstanding in the 2019 (scored 0-5) and 2022 (scored 0-8) AI final. Even his supposed nightmare against Dublin in 2023, he scored three with two from play.In fairness he is very physical for a corner forward. Let’s see how he does in the final.
He is a darling of the media but it’s still good to see some pundits mention that Clifford hasn’t a good record in finals.
Even Cork can manage him a lot of the time.
Personally, I don’t buy at all the All Time greatest hype. He has a long ways to go to pass the likes of Gooch and Jacko for me.
In terms of football and scoring, but not being on a winning side, Maurice Fitz was better.
Let’s see how he does the next day
Gooch and Maurice Fitz were great players but stoppable. No comparison in reality.Yeah I agree.
I think he's a great footballer. Gets protection from refs because if his profile and can dish it out but can drift out of games. Gooch used to disappear only to knife you in the heart. Cliff can be marked out of it
Ahh Maurice was something else. Most of the time he carried the rest as well.Gooch and Maurice Fitz were great players but stoppable. No comparison in reality.
Or his 2 pointers from play, frees and sidelines.Maurice Fitz was the one. Imagine him in a better era for Kerry.
He was top class.Colin Corkery in his prime would outscore both of them
Maurice Fitzgerald was pure class. I recall an all Ireland final - Kerry v Mayo - don't ask me the year. Dreadful match. 2 teams that were mired in mediocrity, but Kerry had Fitzgerald and Mayo had no equivalent.Maurice Fitz was the one. Imagine him in a better era for Kerry.
