Cork Footballers

Leaving aside whether or not the new players introduced are good enough etc, what is very clear is it takes time to step up to this level of
Football and to hope that some of these players answer the huge questions marks in order of priority:
Forwards
Midfield
Goalkeeper

I don’t think we have started anyone outside Maguire and o’callaghan midfield for the last 3 years? Surely time to try someone like Rory Maguire at midfield
Totally agree regarding trying different players mid-field.

However by only playing in Division 2 should help players throughout the league to make the step up and be ready for championship.

Our problem with Midfield is we have not developed replacements and as was seen the longer the season went on the less effective both were and that includes for their clubs.

What problem do we have midfield? Are we not winning ball there?
We have zero alternative to Maguire and o’callaghan, Maguire is the type of player who will run himself into the ground during a match and there is a general view that the middle third in the new game will have more hard running then before. Management in the last 3 years have tried zero alternatives and hoping that 2 midfielders last every game throughout the season is bonkers

Ian Maguire has slowed down in the last year or two. His namesake Rory might be the man to take his place. He isn't a great defender but does cover a lot of ground. He also has a few goals for Cork under his belt. Ian would still have a lot to contribute but he does have a lot of mileage up.

Ian will flourish again under the new rules. Kickouts are going to have to go long, every time.
In fact, should suit Cork big time.
