Cork Footballers

My point is what you said is wrong, he wouldn’t get near the cork hurling team or any intercounty hurling team now, you should have to be correct contextualised the point that 12 years ago when he was hurling at minor, at that age group at that time he was very good
I think the point he was making was that if we had a player like Kilkenny that was good at football and hurling, he would be with the hurling panel. Might have read it totally wrong though

I had the misfortune to mind a club hurling team against Ciaran K when he was moving out of nappies and my gang were moving into them. I would say that if he declared for Antrim in the morning they would take him . It is possible that Derek and the Dubs might even start him on a hurling team.......if he was willing

Yes, we need forwards who are confident of kicking points from 30 yards out. How often do we see forwards (not just from Cork) get the ball in a scorable position, only to pass the ball to a forward in a less scorable position.
But, it's more than that. When Cork have possession, we have a big problem getting the ball into the full forward line. Our full forward line (because no ball is coming into them) then tend to move out towards the half forward line, leading to even more overcrowding in that area - which, of course, suits the defending team.
People say that we need more players who can break the tackle. But too much emphasis on that will lead to a high concession rate of turnovers.
The full forward line should stay inside and the outside players should hit balls in which give them the advantage - not high balls which favour backs, but low trajectory kicks. If the full forward line knows that such kicks are coming, they should be able to react before the backs. Outside forwards should rush in to be available to take a pass, if required.
It should be possible to work on something like that.
Maybe I'm talking rubbish. I don't know. I'm sure ye will let me know!
