Cork Footballers

Is there any hope of Cathal O Mahony being back if we make it to a quarter final
We desperately need another scoring forward Hurley is great when he’s on but he has plenty of off days and today was another one
Why isn’t Sherlock put on the frees right away when he’s on I think Hurley missed 2 more after Sherlock was on
Proud of them today they gave it everything just once again very disappointed not getting the win but it’ll come
Highly doubt Cathal O’Mahony will be back as he tore his hamstring off the bone

Guys, the lack of cards being issued for Kerry's constant (esp in second half) tactical fouling cost us a lot more than the penalty decision (which after all had a certain justice to it even though it's never given). It is of no benefit to us now to be talking about whether that peno should have been awarded. It is somewhat in our interest for there to be noise about the lack of cards issued for Kerry's tactical fouling.

But the most important thing is that, despite the disappointment at losing, we come away from today having come close, and having opportunity for improvement against Mayo. Anything could happen in this group yet.

Spot on but John Cleary is saying nothing regarding Kerry not getting those cards, he fumes a bit over the penalty. Pat Ryan has said nothing on the way Owens cheated Cork last Sunday. Cork have been rode over the years by the GAA and Referees and this has escalated greatly since the strikes. Unless Cleary and Ryan start talking up and pointing out the realities no matter how much Cork improve nothing will be won while they're in charge of Cork's respective senior inter-county teams so regarding your 2nd paragraph I don't think it's satisfying to come close and unless they win v Mayo it will be 3 defeats in 4 championship games. If Cleary and Ryan talk up then the County Board and the likes of Conor Counihan as director of football need to back them all the way. Ben O'Connor has said more than both Cleary and Ryan regarding the treatment of Cork by the GAA as manager of the U-20 hurlers.

Don't know why you put those symbols .. There is a lot of truth and reality in what the previous posters have said . I can go back alot of years where Cork footballers have been rode .And I blame Pat Spillane for alot of it over the years .Constantly telling us all about the virtues of kerry footballers and all the rest were cynical..
This week before the match Ex Cork players (Counihan etc) should have been looking for fair play for Cork ..That's what kilkenny use do with Eddie Keher or Kerry with Spillane .. Its frustrating for Cork football supporters to be on the wrong end of the Referee every flipping year we play Kerry

Kerry have been getting away with this type of stuff for years. They're abit like the Tories in that they dictate the narrative wrt gaelic football. Their pundits are all over the media and their common refrain is Kerry are the purists, Kerry take it on the chin, kerry are the yardstick by which others can be measured. It's complete nonsense but it's never analysised or questioned. The it's not in our DNA shtick we had to listen to from O'connor and nobody said hang on there a second. Cork have unfortunately borne the brunt of this propaganda and will continue to do so until we rail against the kind of cynicism that was evident yesterday.

I predicted to Kerry friends that there would be some contentious refereeing decision(s) in this game that would help Kerry.
This is literally the case every time we play them.
You have to beat them and the referee.
The amount of times they rugby tackled our lads breaking up the field. Must have been 8 or 9 times. Where were the black cards for them????

Had a great view upper south stand..probably repeating but my view; it was like a hand wrestling match and we matched them all the way, the missed frees and chances killed us..at least 4 of them were easy enough that you would be normally 75% sure if going over, penalty probably technically right if this new rule exists but nobody would have noticed if a free was given…Sherlock and Eighan M’s points were great, though Sherlock missed free was disappointing…We need to show consistency now in taking on Mayo..hopefully in Croke Park..(selfish reason)..Think it would give huge confidence if we actually beat Mayo ..overall more optimistic after the game than before..Agree Kerry are cynical and should have had at least 2 black cards ..We need to complain publicly about that so they don’t get away with it again..need to lose their fully false purist image bestowed on them by their pundits and other sycophants

One of the worst i have seen is 2002 semi final, Moynihan pulled and drag Colin Corkery for the first 50 mins, the ref gave no frees to Corkery who then got sent off!

I couldn't believe when Cork got the game back to 2 points with a few mins left that they left Kerry take a short kick out, Kerry held the ball for 2 mins before kicking a point

To make that worse, Moynihan predicted in the media that he had plans for Corkery and Brian White from Wexford watched this all day and did nothing.
Yesterday's effort by Gough is hard to stomach also, when we consider that in the 2nd half Kerry players, mostly the forwards, were blown for fouls on 13 occasions.
Cork could still have won if we had forwards capable of scoring from 40 yards. Hurley is a poor free taker and even if McSweeney scored 2 points his last one is hard to explain when we needed it high in the square for a goal attempt.
We are improving but not good enough to beat Mayo IMHO.
