Cork Footballers

Another year of hopefully proper conditioning will bring them on a pile, getting the injury list reduced significantly will bring them on a pile, getting a keeper that is confident and capable to go short or long is an absolute prerequisite……Dublin are a step up but they won’t beat Kerry as they are in decline compared to where they were.
We survived in division 2 which was the biggest requirement and there is plenty to build on including what looks like a really committed squad and management

We are a mile off in fitness and conditioning. It’s clear to see. There are also better players like Corbett coming through. I don’t rate Sherlock as a top class forward.

No condemnation, points to improve on of course but they showed up and tried against a better team.

Thoughts:
Kick outs need improving, if Martin can't sort it out they need a new keeper.
Defensively in the first half they conceded the Dublin kick out, pushed up in the second half and it helped with breaking up Dublin attacks.

Shooting accuracy needs improvement, dead ball kicking especially but I want to say I was happy with their willingness to shoot. They didn't keep recycling the ball back.

Strength and conditioning needs improvement, they didn't have the legs to match Dublin with the effort they put forth.

Defensive performance was solid, Dublin never really broke them open, they let them come forward too easily at times but defensive shape and work rate inside the 45 was good.

The fact we have changed manager twice in last year. The fact we have introduced almost an entire new panel of very young players in last 2-3 years. The fact we stayed in a very tough D2 this year. The fact we now dont giveaway goal chances (our defence was shocking before this year). The fact we have a clear game structure we are building towards, that players are clearly bought into. And all this with 10 players on the injury table at any one time. Strength and Conditioning is clearly improving, huge progress this year alone.
We need to completely fix:
Goalie/kickouts;
Injury List;

But other than that it is a case of continuing as we are doing and working to continue improving the other areas.

They tried their best fair dues to them
