Cork Developments

I'd argue the western slip road from little island needs to be removed. It's compromised the entire eastern access.

There's really only so much you can do with a massive road interchange with so much traffic being pumped into it.

A load (not all, but a major chunk) of those coming from the east could easily make use the commuter rail. That's in the middle of being brought up to DART levels of efficiency and frequency.

It's fuck all good at Kent for most people, who live in the burbs.

They need to upgrade the tunnel to Blackpool, making it dual carriageway at least then people might have a chance of parking to get the train.

Plenty of parking in Little Island and Glounthaune for those driving. Very quick train journey in. If you live in Carrigtwohill or Midleton there should be no reason at all to drive into the city.

What crap, so the traffic doesn't back up coming from the east worse than before the "improvements"
I must be seeing things most mornings and evenings so.

I asked you a question based on your stupid post, as typified by another poster laughing at your suggestion

It clearly doesn't improve flow.
I am wondering now, am I wasting my time in even responding to you, because you completely fail to get my point?

I will get out my crayons and try again.

I get your frustration with the flow from the East, it is a pity that it was put in anyone's mind that this project would eliminate all traffic issues.

That could not occur, as the tunnel is a bottle neck

The best the designers could do was to separate all of the slips so that they could get rid of the roundabout.
When the roundabout was there and if there was an issue, of which there were plenty.
Traffic coming at and coming from all sides were caught up in it.
Now that there are slip roads, only some traffic will be affected, not all.
That is what has been achieved I think anyone who believed that the intersection was in someway going to alleviate all traffic issues down there was being overly optimistic.

The best way to improve traffic at Dunkettle and the tunnel is P&R facilities at Dunkettle. Those plans need to be progressed. Public transport is much more sustainable than driving.

Yeah but going the other way, out to little island for work, say, there is no reverse option for that, there should be, really.
