July 5th out in Bishopstown track at MTU

Caster Semenya declared for the 3k

No matter you feelings on DSD athletes she's a world star. Seems to have planked at the longer distances so see how it goes

Mens 3k looks like a showdown of the cream of Irish Talent - Darragh McEllhenny, Sean Tobin, Brian Fay, Hiko Tenosa and wunderkind Nick Griggs. Andy Buchart from the UK will be over too. He is a real front runner who always looks like his head will explode at any minute

Phil Healy doing the 100/400 I've only seen her run the 400 indoors yet so that should be great too.

Always a great evening which is poorly advertised and poorly supported but I'm looking forward to it after 2 years off

MM is buzzing for it. He is very involved in it and it has been fierce hard for them to not be able to run it for the last two year.

Fair play to him. There has been a notable jump in standard since they got the world tour bronze

They seem to have improved pacemaking and had Feidhlim Kelly doing live commentary in 2019. Makes for a great atmosphere

City sports had another press release

Lolo Jones confirmed. Lolo is another huge name. For anyone who doesn't follow athletics too closely she was clear of the field and running for gold in the 100m hurdles at the Beijing games and face planted hard on the last hurdle. I know she did some promotional work with Derval O'Rourke and Aclai Gym in town a few years back so there is a bit of a Cork connection

A complete pain in the hole apparently. She's 39 now so past her best but says she can run sub 13 (Derv could manage that only on her absolute best days) and she has represented US in the Bobsled too. She's pretty damn hot while we're on the subject so there is that too

Sarah Lavin should win that event on her way to a decent showing at worlds

Edit: here's lolo in action in Beijing. No face plant I mis remembered that on the second last. Just a massive clatter that cost her her life's ambition. Sport is hard

The 800m is looking fast. 1.45 or so. Mark English still has it at this level. John Fitzsimmons is a 1.47 guy so hopefully a pb in the offing.

There are a trio of Brits. Ben Pattinson has the standard for worlds but I'd be surprised if he makes the team this weekend but he has a shot

Piers Copeland was a finalist indoors last year in the 1500. Kyle Langford I know as a 1500 guy too but has run in the 2015 and 2017 worlds.

Should be quick

hmmm

Yeah there's our Lolo. She was kinda the nations sweetheart after Beijing but everyone appears to have gotten sick of her schtick.

She went hard on the no sex before marriage as a good Christian Girl. Got saturated in the media by doing plenty of magazine shoots, big brother and Dancing with the stars and got dropped from NBCs track coverage quietly enough last year

Still managed to make the winter games in the Bobsled joining our own Terry Mchugh in the pantheon of Greats who have managed summer and winter games
