Man in critical condition after serious assault in Cork town​

A 29-year-old man is in a critical condition after a serious assault in Carrigaline, Co Cork this evening.

The incident took place at Glenwood Estate at around 5.45pm.

Gardaí are trying to piece together what happened, but It is understood the injured man was involved in an altercation with at least two others, during which he received a serious head injury.

He was rushed to Cork University Hospital. The scene is currently preserved for technical examination and investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward and for any person with camera footage to make it available to them.
