I was outside Gusto on Lapps Quay earlier and an elderly man was attacked by a raving lunatic, totally random. Two men ran over and the lunatic ran off but stood by the Clayton banging the bin and shouting. Another guy flagged down Gardai on the bridge and told them, and the answer was you'll have to phone it in and they drove off. The man was ok, just shaken. Gardai were called and when I left 30 mins later still no sign of them. The area around there is gone crazy lately.

Only that I saw it myself I wouldn't have believed it. They also have to call 999 with any incident, not just call Anglesea St.

That's outrageous, unless they had a very good reason to fob the man off, I hope he takes it further, at least ring Neil or PJ about it.

BREAKING NEWS

A Garda has been taken to hospital and two people arrested after two Garda cars were rammed by a stolen car in Cork this afternoon.

The Garda was injured when the unmarked red car she was travelling in was hit by the stolen black Volvo in Glanmire Village at around 3pm this afternoon.

Four men were on board Volvo car at the time.

Shortly afterwards, a marked Garda car was rammed a number of times on nearby Church Hill.

The stolen Volvo was then abandoned and two of the suspects were arrested.

The other two remain at large after making off on foot.

The Garda who was taken to hospital suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigations are ongoing.

The Garda cars as well as the stolen Volvo have since been removed from both scenes
