Cork city has gone to the dogs.

Read through the last few pages and don't want to be double/triple quoting etc

Crusty makes some brilliant points to be fair.

An open park is attracting in undesirable people to the city now at night as they can hide under cover of darkness.
I see the policing plan of the city is referenced, it is working if MOE sees the thread he might highlight it more what I'm going to say.
During day due to policing the undesirables are being pushed out to Douglas Street/Capwell and Turners Cross - I've seen posts on Facebook being shared by residents I know in the area, I think they had now set up a community group.
They're raising concerns of open drug dealing and needles in parks or footpaths. All photographed including dealers and users.
At the start of the policing plan it was they were pushed Summerhill north etc and then that area was added to patrols so now they've push to the southside.

As regards the graffiti that well be done even if gates are locked as the exterior walls will be done.
But for a park that's meant for the people of Cork City, the people aren't getting much out of it minus the undesirables.

There was a meeting between local businesses owners and two Garda superintendents last week to discuss policing in the Douglas Street area, as things have gotten so out if hand.

My understanding is they are launching a task force at the end of this month to combat dealing and open drug use. We've all seen the photos lads doing heroin in that carpark up across from Coughlans.

I saw a very satisfying sting on Thursday at around 7pm, an unmarked Garda car pounced on a fella openly dealing up at the corner of Dunbar Street and Douglas Street and caught him red handed.

They may as well just park a car outside that offie because that place attracts all of them.

Theres a house on Nicholas Street which is the source of many of the problems.

Will anyone be fired for approving this disaster and the robo trees and the 1 million bicycle bridge in Carraigaline?
Nearly 10 months now for that bridge (30 Mtrs) in Carrigaline, Sweet Holy God, the Sydney Opera House Bridge wouldent take that long, good luck with the Luas for Cork Project in both time and price estimated 2.5 Billion at present what will it turn out to be.

I knew you'd be able to shed some more light on the matters and issues.

Glad to hear a meeting has taken place and has since been stings.

Where will they go next now will be the issue.

Fair play to the Gardaí involved, tbh that area around white street/red abbey/dunbar street always was kinda sketchy

I used to live near there and was a lot of trouble happening around the area

It's gotten to the stage now where Breda in the hairdressers locks her door during the day. Justine in the Flower Shop starts her day by cleaning up empty cans left in the Parklet outside her shop. There's a fuckin bin across the road like, how lazy are these pricks.

Having said all that though, funnily enough, the pubs don't get hit much. It's mostly lads coming in trying to use the jacks, but they never really try and buy drink and they don't interact with anyone.

The only trouble I've seen in the pubs has tended to come from one particularly ethnic group.
