Cork city has gone to the dogs.

Yeah they are doing plenty of inspections alright especially since outsourcing the work. I would say some of the rules are even a bit too stringent as it seems to be a one size fits all and old houses are expected to have the same ventilation etc as new houses

I saw on a rival forum recently a thread about a house in the Mardyke with 9 bedrooms available to rent, it was advertised on daft, now don't tell that house is compliant with the regulations, it sounds like a tenement.

If its part of the rental stock in the city then its subject to the same standards as everywhere else.

The days of fellas from Clonakilty having a fall down property on Magazine road and cramming it full of students and collecting a wad of cash on a Thursday are long gone.

And thats a good thing.

I work in the city and regularly socialise in it at weekends. I can't remember the last time I saw trouble of any kind.

Maybe I've just been lucky but I don't understand why some of the posters here are almost afraid to go into the city.

If good decent people refrain from going into the city the "gone to the dogs" sentiment becomes self-fulfilling.
Let me help you out.
A large proportion of the posters on here are whinging fannies.

My young fella regularly walks through town up to the northside both day and night. In fact he did it tonight and gave me a ring on route. Not a bit of bother.

I do too. There's a few drinking and roaring but that's all
