They have to be sick of it themselves at this stage. I mean what traveler wants their caravan or council house burnt down? What traveler wants a slash hook to the noggin? What traveler wants their childers in intensive care?

Maybe it's out responsibility as decent settled folk to get it into their heads the error of their ways?

It's the patriarchs in that community want to keep them ignorant, to pull their kids out of school, to have barely legal teen marriages, not to have any engagement with mainstream settled community other than an outlet to mooch and grift off of. They're fine with the shortened life spans and poorer health outcomes, because that's the way it's always been.

If the kids got a fair go at education, the dated bullshit honour culture they have going would collapse in a few generations, they would not be a whole lot different between them and us, and the old order know it.
