A lot of those historic centres were destroyed in World War 2. They built them back to original spec but they're much newer buildings than you may think.

Cork centre was only rebuilt about 2 decades before WW2 but still manages to look shit in terms of upkeep. Think you're letting us off the hook too easily.

It's like owning a house but not maintaining the outside of it because it's "someone else's" job.
