Cork city has gone to the dogs - official crime thread

Does anyone ever pass the Parklet outside the flower shop on Douglas Street at night?

You'll see some of the roughest, most intimidating troublemakers you will see anywhere.

The parklet in theory great but it becomes a nuisance after dark. They leave the place in shit every time so the lady from the flower shop has to clean up after them first thing every morning.

It should just be got rid of IMO
Would we be a better approach to police it more, and if police Are not available, a (regulated) local volunteer society/ force should be established to patrol it.

I wouldn't approach these lads as a member of the public, they're very intimidating.

They try and use the jacks in the Hyde Out every night and every time they are told no, and every time they turn aggressive.

The Gardai know they are there, but they just drive past them

All those parklets are gone to shit.

It was a nice idea and good initiative as the people from bench space down the marina were commissioned to it so was a nice earner for them which I wouldn’t begrudge but they are gone to rot now and are only more trouble than they are worth.

Justina from the flower shop is a saint and has done wonders for that street.

The one over by Union Quay is similarly shit, although not helped by the constant state of building site that that area has turned into.

Weren't they meant to be finished by September? Having that bridge closed is an absolute nuisance.

What other Parklets are there? There's one outside the Imperial alright

The one in Douglas was removed a few months ago.
