It was my first time seeing the new planters and seating today and they're looking great. They definitely brighten the street up

What's the betting they're going to bother maintaining them? Hell of a lot of work picking rubbish out of them, gimps breaking trees, people stealing plants for their own gardens and the like.

I see they're putting up perimeter fencing all around the pitch opposite the Manhattan Bar, it looks like access will be restricted when it's up.

I'm wondering were locals consulted about this?

Also, Is MM aware of it?

It’s normal to fence off a site for construction work, otherwise the public would be in danger. Common sense really.

Pitch work more than likely being carried out - such as spreading sand or spreading fertiliser.
Most other GAA clubs when doing this close the pitch too.
Council more than likely gave permission.
That pitch can be a disaster at times it's so open with dog fouling etc and often see volunteers from the club out cleaning it up.
That's a general public health risk as well not just towards GAA before people start the GAA take over everything etc

The perimeter fence is the construction work in this case. There's temporary fencing around the edge of the pitch while they're digging holes for the bespoke steel fence posts which are a very stylish and classic shade of deep green with a matt finish.
