Absolute shithole most of the flats are vacant and due to be demolished but some are still occupied,

In theory it should be a lovely area, with it being a quick 5 min stroll into town.

There seems to be a disproportionate amount of incidents in that area though the last few years.

It always was a shit hole. I used to drive up there on my way home from work to Bishopstown in the 1980s.
I remember thinking "what a depressing kip to live in". It was close enough to Jackie Lennox though!

Won't go into the full story here but around 2008 I came across a few lads from there who were in their late teens. A garda gave me a bit of insight into the group, a few close friends had died over the last couple of years from drug overdoses, some were in jail and I think another guy had died from joyriding. Depressing stuff when you live in that type of environment.

Full of southsiders too

That set of flats seemed derelict 10+ years ago and most of them are boarded up or fenced off now I think. Those hanging on to the bitter end are likely holding up the clearance and improvement but I guess that's been their family home for decades. Tough for the council.
