Cork City Fire Brigade

Victor Shine was on the opinion line this morning with P Coogan.
He said that new satellite stations will be built to cater for the expansion of the city.
He mentioned in some many words that Anglesea street station is not suitable as the modern policy is the have a number of stations surrounding the city.
Has this been discussed with staff who as a result may have to relocate to the various stations.
Relocation packages should be discussed now as we don't want to the situation whereby a number of satellite stations are built and staff refuse to occupy them.
I cannot see an issue, they already have another station in Ballyvolane.
All possible issues would have been resolved years ago, probably way back in the 70's when they built that small station in Blackpool.
These stations will not be like the ones in the County, as their lads do not as such stay in the stations constantly.
They get a call, go to the station, get in the truck, return and then go home.

Ballincollig station doesn't have salaried staff like the rest of the city, they're on a retainer like county staff.
Do keep up, Ballincollig station used to be a County station. It used to have a part time service just like the rest of the County up until 2019 when it was taken over by The City Council when the City Boundaries were revised.

That building is not suitable for the City Fire Service and needs a lot of work done to it in order for it to be suitable for full time staff.

There was a compromise made in the City and an extra crew was allocated, but they are based in Anglesea Street not in Ballincollig.

That's what I said, the station in Ballincollig is manned by retained firefighters who live in Ballincollig. It doesn't have salaried staff.

Cork City Fire Service only has full time fire crews, they do not have a part time service like the County.
There is no active Cork City Fire Appliance based in Ballincollig Fire station and will not be until the building is made suitable for a full time crew.

Wrong, Cork city fire service has retained fire fighters living in Ballincollig. The Cork City Fire Appliance based in Ballincollig Fire station becomes active when the retained firefighters respond to being paged.

Ha, I know your only messing like

This is obviously a wind up.

CO13 A1 is based in Anglesea Street, end of story.
