Willie Walsh, formerly of Aer Lingus and IAG, said yesterday that the airline needs to cut costs and increase margins if it is to have a future in IAG. That will inevitably lead to closing bases and reducing the size of existing smaller bases.
Cork airport has done extremely well over the last 10 years but it should accept what it is. An airport for sun holidays and UK cities with a limited European offering that it should seek to grow.
