What the heck happened here?

It's such a sad and tragic story, whatever went on.

Was it an accident? A suicide? Did they leave Ireland? Are they still alive?

Personally I think it was an accident and they were swept out to sea or something.

You'd love for their families to some day get some closure.

I'd be friendly with a sister of Pearce Cremin, who was my tennis coach years ago. He vanished without a trace too. It's awful for them to just not know.

There's something uncanny about the photo they use in features on the Dwyers. They look like a stylish couple though tbf.

It's an odd one when I think about it. It almost lessons the tragedy of a loved one dying.

We all have loved ones who have passed away, but we know where they died, how they died, where they rest now.

Imagine not knowing any of that. Imagine how it must feel for a loved one to be lost without trace, forever.

It's awful

Awfully sad story, even reading about it when I was younger, scared the bejaysus out of me, almost like they vanished off the face of the earth.

Apparently their Toyota was a very rare luxury car

As browser said, it probably went into the Blackwater. A local councillor there disappeared a few years earlier, and he was recovered years later in the bottom of the Blackwater in his car at a depth of 3.5m.

Plausible.

Something similar in Crosshaven a few years ago.

I remember that story, poor guy, at least the family got closure

The Blackwater is a vast river and the silt on the riverbed shifts constantly.
If a car went into the water 35 years ago, could be buried under a few metres of this silt.
