Saw them years later and the singer was in an awful state. Sad to see.

My first time hearing about Whipping Boy was when I was visiting a psychologist out near Blarney after a botched suicide attempt. Yer man was trying to find out what I was interested in and I said music, and he started going on about Whipping Boy as if they were the feckin Beatles.

My parents next door neighbour in Douglas was in a band in Dublin in the 80s, who's pinnacle was supporting Foreigner in the RDS.

They used play the Baggott Inn often enough, and one night on stage they noticed this fella with very distinctive hair coming in and watching them from the bar. After the show he came up to them and said he really enjoyed their set. Phil Lynott

The whole crowd were talking about what mental shit Fearghal McKee was going to do.

it turned out to be setting fire to a copy of the front page of the Irish Times.

Decent gig bit that stunt was fucking lame.
