Not a concert , I know, but it was a privilege to attend The Sound Of Music at the Opera House last night. An absolutely fantastic presentation that was a proper representation of the movie.
Not a cue missed , not a note misplaced nor a dance step miscued. A fantastic night.
Favourite part was the 'storm' scene where Maria has all the kids in her room as they are afraid of the thunder and lightning and one of the children confesses to putting a toad in the previous house-keepers bed. When she's alone, the Maria character slowly pulls back the quilt whilst miming the word 'toad' just as she whips it back fully ,there's a massive clap of thunder and I swear 90% of us almost fell out of our seats.
Huge shout out to Irish Soprano Majella Cullagh who played the Mother Superior and was astounding hitting the very highest of notes. Kudos all round for a great night .
