I appreciate that, cheersIt might seem intimidating but if you just follow the steps it should be fine. Let me know if you get stuck.
But why bother?Yoy could get win11 on it alright from a boot key but, yeah, put a linux flavour on it.
Ubuntu or Mint are simple and stable with massive app support
I've got a whole new life out of an old surface pro, with it, recently. The ONLY watch there was the touchscreen distro.
For a laptop, it's pretty plug and play
Some people are like that...But why bother?
Ubuntu is infinitely better if you don't need MS Office for work and even they've got browser solutions.
And if you really really need the full powered suite, work should be paying for it.

Windows or nothing
You need it about as much as you need CMD/Terminal/Powershell... not at all unless you're doing something adminCan't blame them, it's what they're thought. Think back on the EDCL. It was an MS Office test.
And I get that a terminal can be intimidating, I really do. But in fairness to Ubuntu, they've made it so your average Joe doesn't need it anymore.
There should've been a huge conversion drive for all those machines that couldn't make it to win11.You need it about as much as you need CMD/Terminal/Powershell... not at all unless you're doing something admin
