Club transfers 2024

Would a kid only have to sit out for 48 weeks if there's an objection put in by the club he's leaving?? 🤔 open to correction on this but if no objection to a transfer the player is free to play once transfer granted
No, the player has to sit out the 48 weeks even if the club have no issue with him leaving.

No. The club he’s transferring to have to satisfy the board that the transfer is within the defined criteria (fathers first club, moved address etc) to waive the 48 week rule.

Clubs cannot object to transfers.
Both the secretary of the old club and new club have to sign a player's transfer form. So if the secretary of the old club refuses to sign the transfer form, is that a form of objection, or can the County Board overlook that once player meets all of the other criteria?

The secretary of the club the player is transferring from does not have to sign the form.

Wow that must have changed.

I personally know two players that Brian Dillons objected to and seriously adversely affected the hurling prowess of both teenage players keeping them out for 96 weeks🤔

Out the country even a neighbouring club could be 5+ miles away. In the city it could be a few hundred yards

I’m not getting into discussions about particular clubs or players here.

Can’t speak for what the system may have been before the current one but the Board (be that Co Board, Rebel Óg, City Division) decide on transfer eligibility based on the information they have.

how long ago was that cause the home club no longer has the ability to object, they can give their observations but the board decides and will grant a transfer if it reaches the criteria

were these players under 16 or older?

Correct and it’s a scurrilous thing to say about any club that they essentially ruined players hurling careers by a decision of the board to apply the rules as they are.

If clubs don’t like the rules let them go into the Co Board meetings or convention and change them.
