Online would have you believing Guinness sales are exploding elsewhere!

Used to deliver to pubs in the City. Without overthinking , Guinness undersold Beamish in every pub. Massively in most.

What years?
It’s 20 years since we were in the game but Beamish was hardly drank in the pubs outside the city. Kilkenny did damage to it for a while.. as I say I’ve lost touch with all that.
Tastes always change and the market constantly moves .. since the 1980 these beers have been leaders and fallers Carling-Harp-Fosters- Smithwicks- Heineken- Bud- Carlsberg-Stella- Hop House 13- Peroni/Moretti… the fall of bottled stout in the 90s.. then the rise of bottled beer (bud) and alco pops, then craft beers, off-licenses, the collapse of bottled beer sales in the off licences now 90% cans.. the collapse in youth consumption of alcohol etc etc

Mid to late 20-teens. The Heineken range absolutely walloped Diageo’s. At the time Coors was the best seller. Depending on the pub and whatever cheap n nasty deals they ran, Fosters was probably next then Beamish.

Aesthetically perfect when it settled - tulip Beamish glass. Head a lighter colour than I remember of old. Full bodied. Distinctive not-unpleasant flavour, again slightly different to what I’d remembered. Held the creamy rings (steady Jimmy) all the way down.
After-taste not as good but maybe that was due to having only one and it having been a hot day. Overall - pleasantly surprised.
Will certainly be giving it another try in the very near future.

Great to have a Cork alternative if there’s no draw on the Murphy’s.
