Anyone here read John Borgonovo's Battle For Cork about the Free Staters landing in Passage West in behind IRA held Cork and then sweeping around through Rochestown, Douglas, and on into Cork. I think it was the begining of the end for the Republicans who then had a battle on a number of fronts in Munster.

An important period of our history with Griffith and Collins being dead in little over a fortnight and quite a number of people on both sides killed in what is today an upmarket suburb of the city with little or no evidence of the killings that went on there 100 years ago.

The Lord Mayor, from Maryborough herself, unveiled a plaque at one of the more important battle areas of the Battle for Cork, Cronin's Cottage just up the hill from Garryduff last week, to commemorate those on both sides who gave their lives. There was also a wreath laid on the nearby "Battle Gate"
Great read, fantastic Historian.
