The 1926 Census of Ireland is being released online by the National Archives on April 18, 2026, with records going live at midnight.

It will be fully searchable and free to access, offering over 700,000 digitised household returns from the National Archives of Ireland website.

Yeah, both my parents were alive then so I’m really looking forward to going through it and broadening my knowledge of my ancestors here, and reading up on the history of long passed neighbours

I’ve also started looking for famous leaders who would have been born or growing up around that time. Jack Lynch and Charlie Haughey found so far.
