Car help please

guys and gals

I freely admit to knowing almost nothing about cars bar how to drive them

I need to buy myself an estate (for shame).. and could do with a bit of advice

Id want to spend say 10k max-ish as I have no interest in something depreciating by 3-4 grand a year. I have spent almost no time ever thinking about cars and definitely none thinking about estates, I am also not going to be taking this on track days so I dont need Jeremy Clarksons take on things

So the ones that have caught my eye are:

Saab 9-5
Saab 9-3
Audi A4
VW Passat (ugly though)

Has anyone any advice for me? The Saab seems to be a nice car and great value but I have never even sat in one, the A4 is obviously a nice looking car. Over Christmas I will find something and buy it so I can so see cars then but Im just trying to get my head round it all now. I've been fishing around on carzone and autotrader but its just car porn as I'm sure there are cars to be avoided, cars that develop issues at xxmileage etc, none of which will be on that site.

Also, I dont want something that will cost a fortune in tax so 2.0l max on that front

Any advice appreciated

I used to have a 1.9 TDI Saab 9-3, it was my favourite car that I have owned until my most recent purchase.

As said the parts are expensive but they can be bought cheaper from Belfast.

To be honest I dont want to be getting into having to source parts myself and all that. I have little or no interest so I might as well be realistic.

Lovely looking car though

My mechanic sourced the parts for me whenever I needed something which was rare.
