Yes lots of them show when parked up alright , bustimes as good as it is does not track some of them.
For example VWL's 316 and 317 were transferred from Limerick to Cork a few weeks ago, it is only 316 that is tracking not 317.

Have they some sort of transponder on board and if so should it be turned off if parked up? If refueling, fair enough but I'd say this bus wasn't coming back online for a good while.

Yes some yolk called an AVL , that transmits the data out to the world.
When for example one goes out of service, and stops showing a route number, they just stop transmission.
You may have seen one that was been worked on but the driver who drove it back never switched off the route number of its last service, then the guys in the garage may have needed the ignition active for whatever reason.

That's €38,000,000 of taxpayers money rotting away. All because nobody checked whether they had the ability to charge them before they bought them.

And EV batteries don't like sitting discharged for two years, so those buses will need new batteries (at additional taxpayer expense) if they're ever brought into service.

It's the e-voting machines and Defence Forces armoured vehicle fiascos all over again. Do we have anybody at all in this country who's competent at procurement?

Sure it's just our taxes they're spending. Plenty more where that came from.

The problem is zero individual responsibility.

If someone could be sacked from the civil service for making such a disastrous purchase or prosecuted for wasting public funds, you'd see different behaviour.

Wait til those electric buses are driving over poorly re-surfaced roads which cover leaking water pipes poorly installed by Ward & Burke.
