Bus Eireann.

Yeah , it will be an interesting few months to see what happens. .

Not a good look for bus Eireann if it does all come out.

If it does, which I hope so, then the standard " but we had no idea " , " we knew nothing ".

I doubt anyone will lose their job there although there may be a few early retirements.

LC 310 had the honour of working the first 245X to Dumplin this morning.

LC 309 had the honour of working the opposite direction first service.

First off lads, to any of you that use the buses, you could save a few bob here. 10 bus rides for € 10 when you download the new TFI Go App, then you pay for your journey from your phone, no more leap cards.

And onto fleet news;

VWD's 401 - 407 are on our streets down here having been transferred down from Galway over the last while, VWD 410 has joined its sisters here this weekend.

There will be another transfer of VWD's down from Limerick fairly soon as theirs are, like Galway's being replaced with the new PAD's, just to keep the Green tree huggers happy.

The reason here is that the SL's in Capwell will be retiring shortly, these are the single decker Scania buses that have served us well since 2009, SL 16 was recently taken off the road so the remaining 24 will also be joining it shortly.

We now only have 1 of the VWL type single deckers, which is VWL 324, the rest of them have been retired or transferred to Limerick, Drogheda and Dundalk.

VWD 408, VWD 409 and VWD 429 all on the way down from Galway.

SL 4 has moved from here to Galway and is being used as a staff shuttle bus, that is the first time that an SL has been used anywhere outside of Cork.

SL 7 has been retired.

It's always very sad to see these vehicles move away from home for the last time. Think of all the laughter and stories that those machines have heard from generations of Cork people over the years.

Absolutely 09 reg machines, they arrived in the depth of the last recession and they drove us out of it ;)
